Day 1: Kampala-Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls National Park
In the morning we will transfer from Kampala to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Rhino’s got extinct in Uganda in the early 1980s and Ziwa site is being used as breeding site for the black and white Rhino. After we will proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Dinner and overnight at Twiga Safari Lodge or similar lodge.
Day 2: Game drive and boat trip at Murchison Falls National Park
In the morning you will go for a game drive in the park to spot elephants, lions, giraffe and other wildlife. In the afternoon, you will take a relaxing boat trip on the River Nile and here you will have a chance to see crocodiles, hippos and a range of rare birds. You will also see for yourself the point where River Nile joins Lake Albert, which is one of the “major highlights” of this trip. Dinner and overnight at Twiga Safari Lodge or similar lodge.
Day 3: Visit the top of the Murchison Falls and transfer to Kibale National Park
This trip will take to you to upper Murchison Falls National Park where you have spectacular views of the Murchison Falls along the Nile River. After will head to Kibale National Park via Fort Portal town. In the afternoon, you will visit Bigodi Swamp which has a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight at Kibale Forest Camp or Rweteera Safari Camp
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking Kibale National Park
Here you will go into the jungle to encounter with chimpanzees and different species of monkeys like the Red Tailed Monkey, Olive baboon and Black and White Columbus Monkey. Visit Bigodi swamp sanctuary in the afternoon (optional)
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
We will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Fort Portal crater lakes. Enjoy the amazing views of western Uganda tea farmlands, and tea plantations. If the weather is good, you will get a chance to spot the Rwenzori mountain escarpment in a distance.
Day 6: Kasenyi plains game drive and Kazinga channel boat trip, Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning you will start with the game drive where you should expect species such as elephants, buffaloes, side stripped jackals, hyena, leopards, Lions, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, giant forest Hogs. After lunch, you will take a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel. Here, you will see a lot of hippos and a variety of other animals like Buffalo, Crocodile, bathing Elephant, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.
Day 7: Head to Ishasha for tree climbing lions and transfer to Bwindi National Park
This trip takes you through Ishasha famously known for tree-climbing lions, the lions have learnt to climb the fig trees to escape the midday heat and if you’re lucky, you will see some sleepy lions relaxing in the branches. You will also see buffalo, topi and hippo among other species. After the game drive, you will proceed to Bwindi National Park for overnight.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking at Bwindi National Park
You will embark on a full day adventure to trek the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest National Park. The trek will commence with a short briefing on gorillas trekking rules. You will then start the trek into the impenetrable forest to encounter the gentle giants of Bwindi National Park.
Day 9: Community activities in Kisoro and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Choose between Batwa cultural experience, Sabyinyo volcano hiking tour, and Golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park. Other activities include canoe trekking at Lake Mutanda and coffee making experience.
Day 10: End of trip and departure for home
We will drive from Kisoro/Mgahinga Gorilla National Park to Kampala or Entebbe. There are two scheduled stopovers: one at Igongo cultural centre in Mbarara for lunch and at the Equator crossing at Kayabwe. It is also possible to end the tour in the nearby Kigali city in Rwanda. Kigali is 4hrs drive from Kisoro town compared to 8-9hrs drive to Kampala
